Buenos Aires, take two

End
Parrilla
Immense
Crying

Arrived back into Buenos Aires on our last official trip day. Wandering around the city in search of somewhere to lunch, I was amazed at how much I remembered shops and restaurants from the last time we were there. I would have thought that having done so much travel and seen so many cities our starting point would have become but a distant and hazy blur. I am delighted to say that it hadn't therefore there is much hope that I shall remember for some time at least all the amazing stuff we have done and seen during the past six odd months.

We had our final farewell dinner at our favourite haunt, the affectionately named, Butcher shop. It is really called Gran Parrilla del Plata, but the restaurant is set in an old butcher shop, hence its nickname. Much reminiscing of the trip was had, and a few tears flowed when speeches were made. The food was immense, as good as we all had remembered and built it up to be. We had one final headache sorting the bill for twenty two people, with the added difficulty of paying in two currencies, and somehow I managed to find myself lumped with a calculator, receipts, a pen and expectant faces! (From the final photo below you will see just how delighted I was to be in that position - I do believe the word I'm trying to formulate in the pic is 'bugger'). Thankfully it all tallied in the end and we headed off to the pub for sugar, in the form of desserts, and a few bevvies, as they were much needed!

The next morning, we said our final goodbyes (again) - for half the group it was the end of the trip. It was difficult leaving so many behind, especially since such close bonds have been made, as we have been through a hell of a lot together. Nevertheless those of us heading to Uruguay jumped into taxis and left the emotional turmoil behind, for us there were still a few days left in the trip and they should be, if all goes as planned, total relaxation...
