Coffee
We are now heading into coffee plantation country. The scenery is absolutely jaw dropping; rolling steep hills, covered in green fields and dotted with thousands upon thousands of coffee plots.
Stayed at a lovely plantation near Manizales, (Hacienda Venecia provides an educational and informative experience of both the coffee making process as well as coffee farm life), complete with pool, loungers and, my now firm favourite, hammocks! Seriously, life ain't getting better than this. We also had unlimited free coffee on tap, I'm getting hooked back on the caffeine and am drinking my coffee negro these days - withdrawal in Peru will not be pretty.
One of the staff gave us a brief overview on the entire coffee making process. We chose our own green coffee beans, roasted and ground them and made fresh coffee. Had a wander through the plantation and the processing factory on site.
